Welcome to the Fall 2019 YA Scavenger Hunt!

Oh hai! I am Kristin Jacques, your hostess with the mostess for this leg of the scavenger hunt!

A little bit about me:

  • I have an addiction to rice krispy treats (honestly who doesn’t)
  • When I’m not writing, or reading, I am practicing my favorite hobby of Netflixing.
  • I own two rescue cats. One of them is gloriously chonk.
  • Believe it or not, this is not my natural hair color. Shocking, I know.

A little bit of background before we start:

Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes! On this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 120 hours!

You are currently scavenging with #TeamGold. Looking for my bonus goodies? Keep going! Somewhere in this hunt, I’ve hidden a free bonus story set in the Marrow Charm world, as well as a few other little goodies to set the mood. In the meantime check out this awesome author I am hosting!

But first a few rules:

Directions: Below, you’ll notice that I’ve listed my favorite number. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on the gold team, and then add them up (don’t worry, you can use a calculator!).
Entry Form: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.
Rules: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by Sunday, Oct 6th, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are FOUR contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the GOLD TEAM–but there is also a red team, a blue team, and a purple team for a chance to win a whole different set of books!

If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

Now, onto the good stuff!

This hunt I am hosting:

Helen Vivienne Fletcher

About Helen:

Helen Vivienne Fletcher is a children’s and young adult author, spoken word poet and award-winning playwright. She is the author of a number of books for young people, including Broken Silence, which was a finalist for the Ngaio Marsh Best First Book Awards. She discovered her passion for writing for young people while working as a youth support worker, and now helps children find their own passion for storytelling through her work as a creative writing tutor. Overall Helen just loves telling stories and is always excited when people want to read or hear them.

The book she is show-casing this hunt is:

About the book:

Myra fell from the trapeze, and then she fell in love. Which one will hurt her the most?
Something is not right at the circus. Since Myra’s accident, there have been an unexplainable number of falls, and a strange, hot wind whispering through the tents.
Then, a new fortune teller arrives.
Myra meets Giselle, the beautiful, blind, child fortune teller, who often speaks of spirits in a way which may or may not be a joke. Myra finds herself drawn to her, despite the fact that she doesn’t believe in psychics.
When someone she cares about becomes the next victim of the falls, Myra must face the unnatural cause behind them. Will Myra be able to save the people she loves, or will she be the next one to drop?

Bonus Material:

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all having a great time making your way through the maze of authors to find those secret numbers. I’m super excited to be participating in YASH this year If you’ve not come across my books before, I write in a few genres, but I particular like writing dark twisty stories, especially suspense – real world and fantasy.

I love listening to music while I’m writing, and that’s what my bonus content is about. I’ve created a special playlist to go with my book We All Fall

We All Fall is a creepy supernatural story set in a circus. These are all songs I thought fit the story well, and had the perfect melancholic but romantic vibe to them. It’s kind of what I think the soundtrack would be, if it were a movie. Whether you’ve read We All Fall or not, there’s some great tunes in there, so have a listen as you carry on with the hunt. Enjoy!

Interested in the book? You can find it here: https://books2read.com/u/mqGy0v

Or connect with Helen on social media:

Don’t forget to enter the contest for a chance to win books galore from me, Helen, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is:

Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the gold team and you’ll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

Continue the hunt!
